Air Liquide started to be present in China in early 20th century, and returned in the seventies by supplying air separation plants. In 1990, Air Liquide set up gas operations in Shanghai. Today, operations are mainly located in Northern and Eastern China and expanding in Western and Southern China. Air Liquide in China has about 1,600 employees, and sales is more than RMB 2.3 billion Yuan at the end of 2006. 

• Industrial and medical gases supply: Air Liquide offers innovative solutions based on constantly enhanced technologies and produces air gases (oxygen, nitrogen, argon, rare gases…) and many other gases including hydrogen.
Air Liquide is the leader in growth in China with an annual investment of RMB1 billion per year 2004-2006 and more in the next years.

Business Lines

1. Large industry customers
This segment includes large refining, chemical and metal companies. Air Liquide supplies gases by pipeline and energy solutions to improve their productivity and make their processes more environment friendly.

2.  Industrial merchant
Air Liquide's industrial customers in China are extremely diverse. We offer them reliable and high quality solutions including a wide variety of applications and using appropriate supply schemes (liquide, on-site compressed gases).

3. Electronics customers
In the continuously evolving areas of semiconductors and flat panel display, Air Liquide China provides leading-edge technologies and high value-added services.

Air Liquide services both the hospital and homecare patients with medical gases, respiratory equipment and services.

Production facilities in the key regions of China:

In Northern China (Beijing – Tianjin - Hebei - Shandong - Liaoning): Air Liquide operates plants in Tianjin, Beijing, Qingdao and Rizhao. New plants are under construction in Tianjin, Dalian and Hebei Province. We also have an operation in Shenyang in the filling and the distribution of hydrogen.

In Eastern China (Shanghai – Jiangsu – Zhejiang): Air Liquide operates plants in Shanghai, Wuxi, Zhangjiagang and Changshu. Its SCIPIG joint venture in Shanghai Chemical Park operates an ASU and a large steam methane reformer to produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide. Many new projects are under construction in this area.

In Western China: A plant in Wuhan is under construction and an office has been set up in Chengdu.

In Southern China: An office has been set up in Guangzhou.

• Engineering and plant manufacturing: Air Liquide has been supplying Air Separation Units (ASUs) to the Chinese market for many years. Air Liquide (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd. was established in Hangzhou in 1995 and has a leading market position.
